For the past 30 years, my mom has been hand making each member of my family their own unique Christmas stocking. I wish I had some pictures to share, because they truly are works of art! They are so beautiful, and special to the person, and probably my most favorite part of her Christmas decor. My mom has a massive mantle, and our nearly 20 Christmas stockings take up almost all of it every year!
For our first Christmas as a married couple, Andrew and I had very non-special stockings that I think were $1 from Target — not at all like what I grew up with. Then, last year I stepped up my game and got a little more creative, but it still didn’t feel like our forever stockings.
This summer, as we were planning our renovation I found the wallpaper we used in our dining room and inspiration struck! I worked, and I worked, and worked some more and finally came up with a stocking pattern that I absolutely love.
And now I want to share it with you!
For the first time ever, The Urban Acres is proud to offer a DIY Christmas Stocking Kit that takes you through all the steps to making your first handmade stocking. I’ve made this super easy for you by including everything you need and some very basic instruction. The best part though? Even though this is a kit it leaves lots of room for you to make this completely your own! It’s really the best of both worlds.
