Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year! It is for me, anyway. When the first breath of cold air comes sweeping down the Oklahoma plains, it’s like an old friend come to welcome me home! Christmas was always really special for me as a kid, too.
As a kid, I remember spending a lot of time outside, but when it turned cold my mom rallied me around the kitchen table and we would spend those cold evenings making wonderfully whimsical things. We poured ourselves over Martha Stewart Magazine, and if Martha made so did we! We made wreaths, ornaments, sock dogs, cookies, you name it! I can’t remember every single thing we made, but I do remember the time we spent together.
Now though, it is all too easy to get so overwhelmed during the holiday season and miss out on all the things we used to love! Shared experiences with friends and family are fewer and farther between. In fact, most of our experiences are shared through bytes not through baking, through pixels not through painting. We get so caught up in capturing every moment that we completely forget to enjoy the moment! We get busy, and tired, and end up running to stand still. Christmases pass in a flash, years go by like a dream. Life is hazy, unrelenting, and tiring. Ironically enough, we are living so connected through social media and technology, but we’ve never been more disconnected from the living breathing people standing right in front of us.
But what if this Christmas season was different? What if this year we got back to the original FaceTime and started connecting with our friends and families in the ways we used to? What if you could bring the Christmas magic of your childhood back? Or better, create it for a whole new generation.
This season my mission is simple — Make it as easy as possible for YOU and someone you LOVE to get making!
